Aide-de-camp

An aide-de-camp is like a personal assistant for someone very important, like a top military leader or even a king or queen! They help with jobs and sometimes go to fancy parties. The first aide-de-camp is usually the main helper. It's not the same as a regular secretary; it's a special role for people in charge.

Have you ever seen someone wearing a fancy braided rope on their shoulder? That's often the sign of an aide-de-camp! These colorful cords, called aiguillettes, are worn on their uniform. They can be gold or other colors, and where they are worn (left or right shoulder) follows special rules, like a secret code!

In some places, being an aide-de-camp is a special honor, like getting a special badge. People who are aides-de-camp might even get to add special letters after their name, like ADC or A de C. This shows everyone they have this important job and are recognized for their service.
