Where Did the Bombs Go Off?

On a sunny morning in London, England, something very sad happened. Four loud bangs, like giant firecrackers, scared people. Three of the bangs happened on trains underground, deep beneath the city streets.

One was near a place called Aldgate, another near Edgware Road, and a third near Russell Square. The last bang was on a big red double-decker bus, like the ones you see in movies, in a place called Tavistock Square. It was a very busy time, with lots of people going to work and school.

What Made the Loud Bangs?

The scary noises were made by special backpacks filled with things that could explode. These weren't like store-bought fireworks; they were made by people who wanted to cause harm. They used something called hydrogen peroxide, which is like a strong cleaning liquid, mixed with pepper.

When these backpacks were opened, they made a big, sudden boom. It's like if you mixed two things in a science class and they suddenly fizzed and popped, but much, much bigger and scarier. These were called improvised explosive devices.

Who Was Hurt?

Sadly, many people were hurt on this day. The explosions were very powerful. Besides the people who made the bombs, 52 people lost their lives.

These people came from all over the world, from 18 different countries! Imagine if your friends came from many different places; it was like that, but with people who were just trying to get around the city. Nearly 800 other people were injured, which means they needed help from doctors and nurses.

It was a very difficult day for London.

A Day to Remember

The day of July 7, 2005, is a day that many people in London and the United Kingdom will never forget. It was the worst day for this kind of sad event in the UK for a very long time. It was also the first time that people who believed in a certain religion used these kinds of attacks in the UK.

It showed how important it is for everyone to be safe and for people to be kind to each other, no matter where they come from.
