The very first pitcher to join this super-duper club was Walter Johnson, way back in 1923. That's over 100 years ago! For a long, long time, he was the only one. Then, in 1974, Bob Gibson joined him. It took a long time for more pitchers to reach this amazing number. It shows how special it is to be in this club!

Striking out batters is one of the most exciting things in baseball! It means the pitcher was super strong and smart.
