Meet the Super Squad!

The 26th of July Movement was like a special club of people in Cuba who wanted to change their country. Their leader was a man named Fidel Castro. They were super brave and wanted to stop a leader called Fulgencio Batista, who was like a grumpy boss who wouldn't listen.

This movement was the main group that helped make big changes in Cuba, called the Cuban Revolution. They worked hard to make things fairer for everyone.

Their Big Adventure!

The movement got its name from a day in 1953 when they tried to take over a place called Moncada Barracks. It didn't work out perfectly that day, but they didn't give up! Later, in 1956, Fidel Castro and his friends went to hide in some big mountains called the Sierra Maestra.

From there, they planned their next moves. They fought Batista's soldiers and finally won on December 31, 1958. This big win started the Cuban Revolution!

What They Dreamed Of!

This movement had awesome ideas for making Cuba a better place. They wanted to give land to farmers so they could grow food. They also wanted to make sure important things like electricity and water were owned by everyone, not just one rich person.

They dreamed of building more factories and making sure everyone could go to school. They also wanted fair elections so people could choose their leaders honestly.

Joining Forces!

After the big revolution, the 26th of July Movement joined up with other groups to make an even bigger team. In 1961, they became part of something called the Integrated Revolutionary Organization. Then, in 1962, all these groups came together to form a new, single party.

This new party had a special idea called communism, which means they wanted everyone to share things and work together for the good of the whole country.
