Meet the Crazy Colors!

At the start of the 1900s, artists in Paris got super excited about colors! They painted with bright, wild colors that made their pictures look like a rainbow exploded. These artists were called Fauves, which means 'wild beasts' because their art was so bold and different. Think of paintings that are brighter than your favorite crayon box, full of happy, dancing people and amazing landscapes!

Shapes Get Super Squiggly!

Then, some artists like Pablo Picasso started looking at shapes in a new way. They thought everything could be made of simple shapes like cubes and spheres. They painted things like guitars and faces broken into lots of little geometric pieces, like a puzzle!

This style is called Cubism. It was like looking at the world through a kaleidoscope, with everything chopped up and rearranged in a cool, new way.

Dreams on Canvas!

Other artists began painting things that looked like they came straight out of a dream. They painted mysterious scenes with strange objects and feelings, making you wonder what was real and what was imaginary. These paintings were like peeking into someone's imagination, full of surprises and a little bit spooky, but also super interesting. They were the start of something called Surrealism!

Art That Shakes Things Up!

All these new painting styles were like a big art party, with artists trying out new ideas all the time. They painted with feelings, broke things into shapes, and showed us dream worlds. This art wasn't just pretty pictures; it was about showing new ways to see the world and making people think. It changed how we look at art forever!
