Who Gets to Be in Charge?

In Singapore, grown-ups get to choose who makes important decisions for their country. This is called an election! In 2025, it was a super special one because a new leader, Lawrence Wong, was in charge for the first time. It was like the captain of a ship changing, and everyone wanted to see how the new captain would steer!

Think of it like choosing the class president at school, but for a whole country! People vote for the people they want to represent them in Parliament, which is like the country's big meeting room.

When Did This Big Vote Happen?

The big voting day was on May 3rd, 2025. But before that, there were lots of days for people to sign up to run and for everyone to talk about their ideas. The day everyone officially signed up was called Nomination Day, and it was on April 23rd. It was a busy time with lots of people sharing their plans for Singapore!

What Were the Big Ideas?

People were talking a lot about how much things cost, like food and toys. Some groups wanted to make things cheaper. Others talked about making sure everyone had a nice place to live. It was like a big discussion about what would make Singapore the best place for everyone. They also talked about who should be allowed to come live in Singapore.

Did Everyone Agree?

Nope! Just like in school, there are different ideas. Some people wanted one group to lead, and others wanted a different group. In the end, the People's Action Party (PAP) won the most votes and got to keep leading. But other groups also got to be in Parliament to share their ideas. It's important for everyone's voice to be heard!
