Who Got to Vote for Ontario's Bosses?

In 2022, people in Ontario got to choose who would lead their province for the next few years. It was like a giant school election, but for grown-ups! They voted for people called Members of the Provincial Parliament, or MPPs. These MPPs help make important decisions for everyone living in Ontario. The people who get the most votes in each area become the leaders.

The Big Race to Be Premier!

The main prize in this election was becoming the Premier, which is like the captain of the Ontario team. Doug Ford and his party, the Progressive Conservatives, won the most votes and got to stay in charge. They had already been in charge for a while. The other teams, like the NDP and the Liberals, tried their best but didn't win as many votes this time.

Did Everyone Vote?

Guess what? Not everyone who could vote actually did! Only about 44 out of every 100 people who were old enough to vote decided to cast their ballot. That's like only having 11 kids out of a class of 25 show up for a special party. This was actually the lowest number of people voting in Ontario's history, which is a bit surprising!

Why Does This Election Matter?

This election decided who would make the rules and spend the money for Ontario for a long time. The people chosen as MPPs make big choices about schools, hospitals, and roads. When one party wins a lot of seats, they have more power to do the things they promised. It's important because it affects how everyone in Ontario lives their daily lives.
