Who Gets to Be the Boss of Ontario?

Once in a while, everyone in Ontario gets to vote for who they think should be in charge of their province. It's like picking the class president, but for a whole big place! In 2018, people voted on June 7th to choose 124 people who would go to a special meeting place called Parliament.

These people make important decisions for everyone living in Ontario. It’s a super important day for grown-ups to have their say!

The Big Vote Day Surprise!

On this special voting day, a team called the Progressive Conservatives, led by Doug Ford, won a lot of votes! They won 76 seats, which is more than half, so they got to be the main leaders. Another team, the New Democrats, became the main group that asks questions and checks on the leaders.

The Liberal team, who were in charge before, didn't do as well this time. It was a big change, like when a new principal comes to school!

Amazing New Teams Join the Fun!

Guess what? A team called the Green Party won a seat for the very first time ever! That's like a new kid joining the playground and instantly becoming the best at swings. They were so happy! This election showed that sometimes, new ideas can win big. It’s exciting when different voices get heard, and everyone gets a chance to be part of the big decisions for Ontario.

Why Your Vote Matters (Even When You're Little!)

Even though you might be too young to vote now, knowing about elections is super cool! It shows how people work together to make rules and decide what’s best for their community. The people chosen in this election made decisions about schools, parks, and lots of other things that affect everyone. So, understanding elections helps you understand how your town and province work!
