Also, a big war was happening far away in Europe, and people were worried. President Roosevelt promised to keep America safe and out of the war, which made many people feel better.

People talked a lot about the war in Europe. President Roosevelt said America would stay out of it. Mr. Willkie thought President Roosevelt might be planning to join the war. They also talked about jobs because many people didn't have work. President Roosevelt had helped people find jobs, but Mr. Willkie said he could do even better. It was a big decision for everyone!
